I do think that we teach to the test a majority of the time. Since assessments are what education is about these days. Isn't that what we are supposed to be doing????
I don't know what other teachers do but myself I do not. I write my own tests so I specifically don't teach to the test. But what does it mean to teach to the test?
The culture of my school is blatantly teach to the test. In our PLC meetings we set goals to "teach testing language as well as academic language." The funny thing that strikes me is that no one has a mentality that what we're doing may be questionable...it is celebrated! I believe that this is a negative byproduct of standardized testing.

I think that some teachers do teach to the test ... but, if the test is assessing what the students need to master I don't see the problem!

I think most teachers teach to the test because we are accountable some what on how students perform on standardize test.
It depends.
I believe many teachers do this and this is sad.
Some teachers teach to the test. Unfortunately if they do this they are missing many important elements in each subject.
Unfortunately, some teachers do teach to the test.
If you want student to perform well on standardized testing, then I suppose it does influence your teaching.

Yes, I think it is almost a must...I know that even as an administrator I have pushed doing just that...not something I am proud of...
